The Gänseliesel (geese keeper's girl) is one of the 'most kissed girl in the world.'
The often kissed stands on the market well in front of the old town hall. Following an old tradition, just appointed doctors, climb onto the well to kiss the bronze beauty. More often than not, a doctor slips and falls into the well, to the enjoyment of the spectators. Should you happen to see a people parade with a farm cart and coloured self-styled doctoral cap in the city centre of Göttingen, follow the parade to the Gänseliesel and watch the ceremony - it is well worth it.
