Aula
Wilhelmsplatz 1

In order to built the university's auditorium in the year 1837, the Franciscan minster had to be pulled down.

The auditorium was to be completed for the 100th-year jubilee of the university. King Wilhelm IV, the benefactor of the imposing building, wasn't able to take part at the inauguration celebration as he had died just before. The sculptor Ernst von Bandel created a memorial for him that graces the Wilhelmplatz ever since. The same sculptor crafted the sculptures in the gable of the classicism building, which represent the four faculties and the genius of science. The auditorium's interior is also well worth a look. Concerts and ceremonial acts are still taking place today in the representative Aula.
