The bronze Lichtenberg-Sculpture stands
since 1992 at the Göttinger Marktplatz
and greets passing pedestrian and
congratulates newly-weds who are
leaving the register office.
The Göttinger publisher and diverse
art stimulant Tete Böttger awarded the
contract to the Albanian sculptor
Fuat Dushku and paid for it.

The metal for the Lichtenberg sculpture stems from melted monuments by Enver Hodscha. The trip of the bronze Lichtenberg from Tirana to Göttingen was very adventurous: the artwork was conveyed as diplomatic luggage due to the then complicated political circumstances.
The sculpture was unveiled on the 1st of July 1992, the 250th birthday of Lichtenberg.
Interesting is also that Lichtenberg's shoe straps carry the signature of Horst Janssen. With that Dushku wanted show reverence to the Hamburger illustrator, whose pictures had made a lasting impression, when they were exhibited at an exhibition in Tirana 1989 organised by Böttger. Dushku documented at the same time also Janssen's adoration for Lichtenberg, who kisses here the feet of the witty mocker and scholar.
