Göttingen shine in a new light. The light concept had its beginning in October 2006. The Deutsche Theater attracted several hundred people at night onto the Theaterplatz and showed a performance of theatre, video and light art.

image author: Ingo Hartmann 40 locations like buildings, places, streets were lightened up. 15 restaurants and pubs took part with special offers under the motto "Fire & Flame". In addition there was a night flea-market at the Nikoaikirchhof.

image author: Ingo Hartmann Many shining shop windows made a stroll through the city attractive. The invitation for moonlight-shopping was especially taken up. The shops invited with opening times till 11pm to look and shop. As the weather was mild and dry many visitors used this opportunity. There was a cheerful atmosphere nearly the same as at the time of the football world championship.
It is the ambitious goal of 'Göttingen - Licht und mehr' (light and more) to lay the basis for a lasting increase of attractiveness of the old town through the thoughtful application of light. The college Hildesheim – Holzminden – Göttingen was commissioned to develop long-term lightning for the inner city.
